“Waiting
for God.” That is a common and ancient
way we have described what we do here in Friends’ meetings for worship. But is God not in every person? Isn’t God always with us? This reminds me of being in a line of people,
perhaps to see a movie, and only after a long time discovering that someone I
know is near me, quietly behind me. I
had only to turn around to recognize this patient friend. Is not God waiting for us?
