Until
a few hundred years ago, marriages were arranged by one’s church or one’s
family. Since then, in Europe and much
of the Western Hemisphere, the marital
commitment has become a decision for the couple: marriages have ceased to be
arranged. Or have they? Could it be that each marriage has been and
always will be arranged -- arranged by the silent and invisible hand of God to
serve His purposes, whether we understand them or not? In this light, one finds a new and great
source of wonder, strength, energy and joy in marriage.
