have not because you ask not.” [James
4:2] I ran across that observation
concerning prayer recently. It made me
realize that, even in prayer, I’d rather be right than totally honest or
vulnerable. I’d rather ask God for what
I think God wants me to ask for than to ask for what I really feel I need, or
specifically for what I want, trusting always that God will provide that which
God sees fit to provide.
